RTA & Dubai Autodrome Partnership

Dubai, UAE, 22 May 2018: In a bid to help improve driving standards on the road across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Dubai Autodrome and Road Transport Authority (RTA) have devised an 18-month program aimed at educating the UAE’s RTA approved driving academies and instructors.

Formed in December 2017, the partnership’s primary goal is to improve the skills of instructors across the UAE by educating through ‘real life’ road situations that are designed to improve the instructors’ situational awareness on the roads, while giving them the ability to improve their teaching skills that will ultimately assist the student driver.

While a number of topics are covered during the training, the top driving techniques and situational skills covered are as follows:

  1. Emergency braking
  2. Proper steering technique
  3. Cornering techniques
  4. Poor road conditions which have a lack of grip
  5. Safety driving techniques
  6. Situational awareness

The course combines a mix of theory and practical elements with each driver receiving a score card that is designed to track their progress and improvement when they return.

Since the implementation of the RTA awarded contract, the Dubai Autodrome has put 800 instructors through the training course and anticipates another 1,200 instructors to take part throughout 2018.

Arif Al Malik, Director of Drivers’ Training and Qualification at RTA’s Licensing Agency expressed his satisfaction for this partnership with a reputed organization like Dubai Autodrome to train and better qualify driving instructors.  He said, “Drivers Training and Qualification’s long-term vision is to provide world class standards in all our services and processes.”

“Our goal is to meet and exceed customer satisfaction. We establish the Centre of Excellence with the primary objective of developing highly qualified road safety professionals so that all new drivers will have the necessary skills and attitude towards achieving a safe and smooth transport for all.” said Al Malik.

The Dubai Autodrome is dedicated to helping keep Dubai’s roads safe and accident-free. The implementation of new, community events such as Driver Experiences and Roll Racing DXB have been created to give road users the opportunity to drive their vehicles in a safe and controlled environment.
