PREVIEW: ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP RD3

Dubai, UAE, 16 October 2018:  Local teams and kart teams from around the world will face off in Dubai this weekend (19-12 October) to be the first team to drive 700 kilometres around the Monaco Switchback Circuit at Dubai Kartdrome for Round Three of the 2018 Endurance Championship.

For the first time in the history of the Endurance Championship, a ten-lap sprint race will proceed the main event, with the sprint results to determine the starting grid for the 700-kilometre endurance race, which will take teams approximately 12 hours to complete.

In the Pro division, Bin Drai Karting Team has two wins, 80 championship points and a 13-point gap over Emirates Pro and Dubai Falcon Racing Team, with both teams in the hunt on 67 points each.  The experienced drivers of Dubai Falcon Racing Team won the Pro title back in 2015 and will be keen to return to the top step of the podium this year.

Cambridge Middle East Group has a pair of teams in fourth and fifth place, and they will be looking to spoil the party for the current frontrunners.

In the Corporate category, for teams with drivers from the same company, Team Emirates has been successfully defending its crown from last year.  After two rounds Team Emirates has 80 championship points and a ten-point margin over LD Russia on 70 points.  Redline Racing is still in mix with 62 points, as well as Fly Emirates and Pride Russia, with both teams on 56 points.

LD Russia is also a contender for the Nations Cup, a sub-category for teams with drivers of all one nationality.  The all-Russian squad has 75 class points and leads over the Indian outfit Prudent Motorsports on 52 points.

Dubai Kartdrome Manager David Bright said, “We have a new circuit configuration and a new format for Round Three of the Endurance Championship, so we’re looking forward to see how teams respond to the challenge.”

“There’s only a few open slots left on the grid, so any teams who might be interested still have a chance to race,” he added.

Driver or teams interested to compete should call +971 (4) 806 2220 or email rowenaa@dubaiautodrome.com.
