Endurance Championship Round 3: Start

Dubai, UAE, 20 October 2017:  Another titanic battle between arch rivals Batelco and CG Pro looks to be in the making, after a ferocious start to the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship Round Three 700KM race.  However, Lukoil Racing are looking to spoil their party, and they currently lead the pack.

Lukoil Racing are on course to upset the favourites.  The all-Russian squad began the night well, topping the qualifying screens with a best lap of 1:10.510 to earn pole position.

After the famous Le Mans style start, with drivers running across the track to jump into their waiting karts, Lukoil Racing dropped back on the opening lap, leaving Bin Drai Racing to take to the front.  That lead quickly evaporated however, and soon Batelco and CG Racing Pro pushed their way past.

Lukoil managed to recover and, after almost two hours of racing, the team has regained the frontrunner position, just 0.232 seconds ahead of CG Racing Pro, with Batelco another 0.199 seconds back.

Lukoil Racing Leads

In the Corporate category, veterans Team Emirates have carved out a class lead, followed by Oman Makasib 2 and CG Racing 1.

There are still approximately 10 hours to go to complete all 700 kilometres on the Reverse Switchback Circuit at Dubai Kartdrome, with the chequered flag expected to be waved around 7.00 in the morning on Saturday.
