Batelco Racing Racing in command
CG Racing Pro looks to strike back
Dubai, UAE, 25 April 2017: 2016 Champion CG Racing Pro will be looking to bounce back this coming weekend (28-29 April) after getting eclipsed by arch-rivals Batelco Racing in Round One of the 2017 Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship.
The next three rounds are shaping up to be monumental brawls between two heavyweight contenders. Batelco teams have taken the Pro Title an astonishing four times in the past, but they lost a close contest to CG Racing Pro last year, a team that now has two Pro Titles of its own.
For the 600 lap race of Round Two there are also several veteran teams capable of spoiling the Batelco-CG party.
The 2015 Pro Champ, Dubai Falcon Racing Team, is certainly capable of getting a win but the talented racers will have to make up ground for a fourth place finish in Round One. A victory in Round Two will be vital to get back into the Pro Championship, however, the all-Emirati line-up currently leads the Nations Cup sub-category.
Over the last year Bin Drai Karting Team has been quietly working its way up the grid and now stands poised to challenge the top titans. A third place finish in Round One keeps the aspiring team in the hunt.
In the Corporate Category, Team Emirates is on track to continue the good work of its companion team, Fly Emirates, the 2016 Corporate Champion. A Round One victory over nemesis CG Racing 1 was a narrow one, and the drivers from Choueiri Group will be looking for payback.
Redline Racing secured third in Corporate after the last race, and will be ready to pounce if Team Emirates or CG Racing 1 makes a mistake.
The Russian squad of Lukoil Racing Team will be eyeing two podiums after a fifth place overall finish in Round One. It is has good chance in the Pro Class but even a better chance in the Nations Cup, which it is currently in second place over ZOOM Racing Team in third.
Round Two of the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship will take place on the Switchback Circuit (clockwise) at Dubai Kartdrome. It starts at 19.00 on Friday, will run for 600 laps and will finish approximately twelve hours later at 07:00 on Saturday.
