Endurance Championship Back in Action

Dubai, UAE, 16 October 2019:  The drivers of reigning Pro Champion, Bin Drai Karting Team, know they need to dig deep for Round 3 of the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship Powered by MSW on Friday (18 October) and attempt to overhaul the current leader, Emirates Racing, which has steamrolled its way through two rounds in perfect form.

Another squad from the Emirates Group Karting Club (EGKC), Team Emirates, is hoping to defend its 2018 Corporate title, fighting a close contest with LD Russia, the current Nations Cup leader.

Qualifying starts at 11am on Friday on the legendary Reverse Switchback Circuit at Dubai Kartdrome, part of a rotation of different track layouts used for every endurance event.  Racing action kicks off at 1pm with the famous Le Mans style running start.

Welcome Motorsport Wheels!
Motorsport Wheels (MSW) officially joins the championship this weekend as Title Partner.  The leading automotive parts and services provider has also upgraded all competitor Sodi RX8 karts with high-performance EBC Brakes.

Pro Championship Preview
Arjun Manjunath, Mohammad Mattar, Romaldo Labrooy and Ramez Azzam of Emirates Racing are seeking a maiden Pro Title for EGKC but defending champ, Bin Drai Karting Team, with drivers Duarte Lopes, Andre Caido, Miguel Neto and Pedja Jakovljevic, will be out to de-rail the challenger’s aspirations.

After two rounds, Emirates Racing, with 80 championship points, maintains a ten-point lead over Bin Drai Karting Team on 70 points.  Cambridge Middle East Interiors is still in the championship hunt with a total of 64 points.

Corporate Championship Preview
Emirates Group Karting Club’s teams have retained a tight grip on the Corporate Championship since 2016, with Team Emirates bagging the last two Corporate titles in a row.

It may be unwise to bet against drivers Jiby Kuriakose, Hugo de Frutos Maeso, Maxime Seurat and Mohd Zubair of Team Emirates this year, but LD Russia has emerged as a serious contender to overthrow the defending champ down the stretch.

The all-Russian outfit, with drivers Dmitry Levin, Konstantin Mandrikov and Victor Agafanov, has locked horns with Team Emirates, with both teams level on 75 championship points after two hard-fought rounds.

Another LD team, Pride Russia, is right the Corporate mix with 64 points, along with Redline Racing from Saudi Aramco on 58 points.

Bright added, “MSW has also fielded a team of regular SWS talent for this weekend and I am confident this team will be making a name for itself as the weekend goes on.”

Nations Cup Preview
As well as Corporate, LD Russia is chasing another trophy in the Nations Cup category, and the team is in a very strong position to defend its 2018 Nations Cup title.

The Russians are dominating this year’s ranking, taking the maximum 80 category points after two rounds.  Saudi racers Faris Aldosari, Saud Almasoud, Salman Suliman and Muteb Alsaqhan of Seven Racing are chasing with a total of 35 points and will have a great challenge to overcome to catch up in the next races.

Build Up to 2020 SWS World Finals

Bright concluded, “Now that the 2020 SWS World Finals has been announced to be held here at Dubai Kartdrome, all the local teams have stepped up a notch in their preparations, so they can really take the fight to Emirates and Bin Drai and try to qualify for next year’s final here in Dubai.”

“Good luck to MSW and all our teams!”
