Emirates Schools Karting Championship: Senior RD3

Dubai, UAE, 22 January 2018:  Nomad class VDR Racing and Ghost Racing Team continue to wage a back and forth battle, with Sameer Mohideen, Samuel Garbutt and Mateo Moussaoui of Ghost Racing Team striking back to win Senior Round Three of the Emirates Schools Karting Championship (ESKC) at Dubai Kartdrome on Monday night (22 January).

The Nomad class, for teams with students from different schools racing together, again dominated the night, with the top three places on the overall race podium all filled by Nomad teams.

Ghost Racing Team started the season well with a Round One triumph, only to have arch rivals VDR Racing snatch Round Two and the championship lead.  Now the momentum is back with Ghost Racing Team.

In qualifying VDR Racing notched up a best lap of 1:11.332, just ahead of JESS Nomad with a best lap time of 1:11.420.  Ghost Racing Team jumped both teams with a scorching lap time of 1:10.941 to take pole position.

After the start lights went out, the three racers of Ghost Racing Team went about their business with extreme precision, keeping their lap times steady and pit stops timed to perfection.

Samuel Garbutt remarked, “If you’re not consistent, you’re not in it, essentially.  It’s so important to be consistent, to make sure every pit stop is trimmed down to the second.  That’s what won it today.”
