Dubai Racers on Target to Win at SWS World Finals

Dubai, UAE, 11 July 2018:  The best Sodi World Series (SWS) drivers from Dubai have travelled to Lignano Circuit in Italy to compete against the top leisure karters in the world in the 2019 SWS World Finals (11-13 July).

Dubai Kartdrome Manager David Bright will manage an experienced Dubai squad that has high expectations for top honours.

He explained, “For this year’s SWS finals the drivers are better prepared than ever before.  Over the course of 2018 we introduced over 20 different circuit configurations during races, which has provided our drivers more experience to adapt to new circuits when racing internationally.”

Drivers Manohar Yashish, Federico Al Rifai and Patrick Debattista will contend for the Junior Cup (11-14 years old).

Bright said, “We have a very strong line up in the Junior Cup category. Frederico is a Dubai-based Italian and I am sure he will feel at home on the Lignano circuit.  This will be Patrick’s last event as a Junior and I am sure he will want to end his Junior career on a high!  I am looking forward to seeing how Yashish, who only started racing one year ago but qualified for the finals on merit, gets on as he has been a sensation this year.”

Anjum Shaikh, Abigail Birch and Hussain Umid Ali will be competing in the Sprint Cup (15 years and older), and Bin Drai Karting Team, with drivers Pedja Jakovljevic, Miguel Neto, Andre Caiado and Duarte Lopes will take up the team challenge for Dubai in the Endurance Cup (15 years and older, teams).

Birch is the current reigning Women’s SWS World Champion in the Sprint Cup and she’ll be seeking to defend her title this year against tough competition.

Dubai Kartdrome Manager David Bright said, “I’m proud to take this year’s squad to the 2019 SWS World Finals in Italy.  Last year we had a strong representation in the Senior Cup, with Anjum Sheikh nabbing pole position and set to win the event until a technical issue cost him victory.  I look forward to watching our Senior Cup and Endurance drivers challenge the world’s best.”
