Report: SVDP Racing on season finale at Dubai Autodrome
Well what a great end to the UAE 2012/13 season, SVDP-Racing managed to enter two cars into the last race weekend, the new addition to the fleet a 2004 Ex BTCC EP3 Honda Civic previously driven by Matt Neil.
The car was very well prepared by Robi (MSW) who had spent the past month replacing bearings brakes, exhaust, seat, fuel system and much more. During practice the car was running well and stopping great.
We were spending a lot of time on the set up of the car. After the first practice it was evident the engine was not got, very under powered and leaking oil. We decided to proceed with with qualifying and race one, qualifying 3rd from last we decided to use the race as a set up session.
During race one, 8 laps in the gearbox decided to give up the ghost, limping round in 4th we managed to bring it across the line. Unknown to spencer, costas with the mighty Seat had blow an engine, that meant SVDP-Racing took P1 Yip eee. The highlight of the weekend was seeing the mighty BMW 120D being driven by our mechanic Sam North.
Sam had these words to say: “After working in the SVDP-Racing pit team for the past year and a lifelong obsession with race cars, it was fantastic to finally get behind the wheel of the BMW at my debut event. The car drove well and my lap times got progressively faster throughout the day. I’d like to say a big thank you to Spencer and the SVDP team for their support at the event. The racing bug has truly bitten, I now have my sights firmly set on the 2013/14 UAE racing season.”
The mighty Beemer is now Holland bound for Mr Wubbe & Egbert to do his magic on the car getting it ready for Barcelona, Sept 6th, 7th, & 8th.
SVDP-Racing would also like to thank the Autodrome staff for all the hard working in making 2012/13 season a good one. We would also like to wish Hamish all the best with his new venture.
