This, the fourth round of the 2008/2009 Championship, will again be a mouthwatering encounter of the brute power kind among a band of elite drivers.
Johnny Herbert is the defending Speedcar Series Champion and opened his account with a well deserved victory in last month’s Bahrain round. He is facing a formidable task to retain his title as there several candidates set on stealing the laurels from the popular Englishman. Recent Torro Rosso Formula 1 driver Vitantonio Liuzzi won the opening round at Dubai Autodrome when he powered to his maiden win in the Team UP car. His team-mate Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum is eager to notch up top honours in a series which has seen him emerge as one of the young drivers to watch for the future. A big result on home turf will be the highlight of the Emirati’s career. A host of top line drivers will line-up for what is set to be another epic weekend, including ex-Formula 1 aces Jean Alesi, Heinz Harald Frentzen, Gianni Morbidelli and Jacques Villeneuve take on an assortment of hotshots including Thomas Biagi, Damien Pasini, Marchy Lee and Dubai bred Christopher Zoechling.
