
Dubai Autodrome ready for busy racing weekend
MotorCity GT 500 (November 17-18)
Dubai, UAE, November 14th, 2006: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, the MotorCity GT 500 race weekend will commence on November 17 -18.
The MotorCity GT 500 is the 10th and final round on the 2006 FIA GT calendar and promises to be a thrilling race as teams are still fighting for second and third positions in the championship. With 28 cars due to line up for Saturday’s MotorCity GT 500 race, the race promises to be a 3 hours of close and exhilarating competition.
In addition to the 500-km FIA GT race, the MotorCity GT 500 race weekend will feature a variety of supports races including MotorCity trophy Race for Motorworks GTI Cup Cars (2 races) and UAE National Superstock Bikes (2 races).
There will also be plenty of on-track entertaining activities including Bartercard Gulf Radical Cup demonstration laps, Dubai Autodrome Race & Drive School Single Seaters and drift demonstration, Red Bull motorcycle stunt display on start/finish straight, FIA GT drivers’ parade in classic cars as well as track parades for Porsche, Corvette, Harley Davidson and Lowriders (Modified Cars).
Throughout the event, the Amphitheatre area at the Dubai Autodrome will feature fun filled activities for families such as Red Bull Skate Park, trail mountain bike show and Break Dance demonstration as well as sky diving performed by the UAE National Parachute Display Team (Landing on turn 16).
The racing weekend will start on Friday with 2 (90 minutes) free practice sessions and one 20 minutes qualifying session. On Saturday the drivers will have only 15 minutes for a warm up session before the MotorCity GT 500 Race start at 2:30pm.
